Level 2 Spring 2008 Competition Now Open

 

We are now taking expressions of interest from individuals interested in applying for our Level 2 Award of up to £20,000.  Level 2 Awards provide up to £20,000 in living expenses

for individuals who have already set up a project, social enterprise or charity.  We are looking for entrepreneurs who can demonstrate a viable business case for their project development and a clear social need for their work.  As we ask you to evidence your social, environmental or economic impact to date, applicants have usually been operating their projects for over a year.

Building Peaceful Communities £5000 Award

 

UnLtd has launched a £5000 award competition encouraging motivated young people aged 16 - 35 to come up with ideas to promote peace and understanding in Northern Ireland.  The award has been launched to mark the tenth anniversary of the Belfast Agreement.

 

  • The project must address conflict or a lack of cohesion between different groups, cultures or religions in Northern Ireland
  • The application must clearly demonstrate how the project contributes to peace building in Northern Ireland

The Big Idea

 

UnLtd has joined forces with Advantage NI and Invest NI to run the Big Idea competition throughout the six Further Education Colleges across Northern Ireland.  Students form each

of the six colleges will compete against each other to come up with the best ideas for improving the lives of others in the college or surrounding community.  The best idea from each college will win up to £5000 plus a tailored package of development support to turn the idea into a reality.  The competition will run in March 2008.

 

Recent award Winners…..

 

Level 1

 

Matt Garrett from Belfast - His project will address anti social behaviour and community cohesion in West Belfast through community art and conservation. George Robinson from Larne – His project will get young people under 21 in the Criagyhill area off the streets at the weekends by providing an alcohol free disco and DJ training. Julia Lyn Watters from Belfast - She will develop a creative dance movement tackling issues such as low self esteem, negative body image and lack of confidence to victims of violence and domestic abuse.

 

UnLtd Sport Relief

 

Brendan Boyle (20) from Derry - Soccer in the Streets will provide two 4 day soccer camps on the streets of Derry in Easter and Summer bringing Catholic and protestant youths together. Kyle Bradley (12) from Tobermore - The mini world cup tournament will bring together 12 different clubs across County Londonderry to participate in the tournament fostering a greater respect and understanding of different cultures.
