The Community Interest Company (CIC) is a step closer to becoming an option as a new corporate structure for non-charitable social economy enterprises that want to use their profits and assets for the public good.

It is planned that a commencement order will extend the relevant provisions of the Companies (Audit, Investigations and Community Enterprise) Act 2004 on April 6th 2007.

CICs will be regulated by the CIC UK Regulator (www.cicregulator.gov.uk) and not Companies Registry.  The Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment will hold awareness events in the near future which will be posted on this website.

For further information on CICs please email : denise.mccann@nicva.org
